French people from France have a hard time understanding our Canadian / Quebecker French. Sit them at a bar in downtown Montreal, and they'll be as lost as you. For real.
Why? Because after being surrendered to the English by the French, in 1760, Quebec had no contact with its motherland for almost 200 years. Our ways of speaking therefore evolved very differently. Sure, we might share the same grammar rules for writing, but when it comes to speaking, the difference is HUGE. So if you plan to move to Canada / Quebec, you WANT to learn Canadian / Quebecker French. Unless you have a lot of time, energy and money to waste to learn French twice. But frankly, isn't adapting to a new country, a new culture and a new weather enough? I think so too...
Hi! I'm Michelle. I'm your Canadian / Quebecker French teacher. I live in Montreal and I was born and raised in what we call "La Belle Province" (Quebec, that is). With me, you'll learn to understand and speak the French we use HERE. Plus all the crazy, funny, weird things you'll have to deal with, from a cultural perspective. I can also help you prepare for the TCF and TEF/TEFAQ exams.
